Optical Sizes
Workhorse Didot is designed with 7 optical sizes so your type looks sharp at any size. 16pt features a heavier weight to perform better at small sizes, while maintaining that characteristic lower x-height. In addition, at smaller optical sizes size letters like the uppercase e, f and g become more blunt in exchange for clarity at smaller sizes.

Typeface Information
Firmin Didot’s introduction of Didot in 1784 is considered to be the first truly modern typeface and was certainly the most spartan serif at the time. Since that time there have been numerous interpretations of his work, some more noteworthy than others. Workhorse Didot is a brutalist look at what makes a Didot typeface, inspired by American high-contrast stencils.
Despite the original metal type Didot being available in several optical sizes it’s rare to see a modern rendition with more than one or two optical sizes. To allow for the perfect stroke thickness Workhorse Didot is designed to be variable and has 7 built-in optical sizes.
