The Workshop
I have a lot of work in varying degrees of completion that may or may not ever be sold as a retail typeface. Assuming you were invited to this page, if you want to use something on a project just let me know and I would be more than happy to supply you with a free copy.
Things are a bit rough (and kerning is usually done last) so don’t be turned off by some sloppy spacing. I’ll clean things up before I hand it over.
Workhorse Grotesque
8 Weights
7 Widths
Regular & Oblique
Variable Font
Almost every bit of chamfered type I’ve seen is either super limited in widths/weights or very industrial. Inspired by some hand-painted New England signage and wood type, Workhorse Grotesque is my attempt to have a chamfered typeface with some character and charm.
3 Optical Sizes
Variable Font
A serif inspired by the impractical but insanely classy Rococo era. The lowercase is partially finished and I intend to add italics and smallcaps at some point. Obviously I will be swashing the shit out of everything because Rococo (as a stylistic option you can turn on/off). I’m mostly finished with an additional 2 optical sizes so it can work nicely at smaller sizes.
WTF Florida
8 Weights
Variable Font
There is no italic yet, and I’m still trying to figure out which direction to take this. But at the moment the regular version is pretty dialed in and has 8 weights. I’ve been planning on having a few optical sizes that control the level of contrast between thick/thin.
WTF Fractal
3 Weights
Variable Font
This is VERY rough right now and I’m still trying to figure out which direction to take this. Some characters are a total shitshow right now. My current plans are to have 3 weights and have a crazy-ass razzle dazzle version.
Workhorse DIN
8 Weights
12 widths
Regular & Oblique
Variable Font
While DIN is used a lot it has some spartan lowercase letters that make it less optimal for text. I’ve created 2 styles, one suited for text and the other for display. The display variant has an alternate N, W and I.
The original drawings for DIN include a wider version that no one has made yet. I’ve expanded on that to include multiple wider widths.
WTF Bauhaus
7 Widths
3 Optical Sizes
Variable Font
The Bauhaus produced some pretty interesting stencils, though they’re a bit clunky since they adhere to a very strict set of rules. I infused a bit of mid-century adoreable-ness into them, added a ton of widths and took some features from other mid century stencils. There are multiple optical sizes that allow you to control the gaps between shapes.
WTF Code
Morse Code, Postal Code, Bar Code, Binary Code, Braille Code
Variable Font
When we think of “code” we think of something spies used to be secretive. In reality most codes were developed to communicate with as much clarity as possible under sub-optimal conditions. This was a weekend project of mine. All of these styles are fully functional, I’m just not sure if I should sell them, give them away as libre fonts, etc.
